I taught film aesthetics and film history courses in the New York area part-time from 1972 to 1975, and filmmaking, film aesthetics, and film history full-time in Chicago from 1976 until 1982. More recently:

I will be teaching a course, American Cinema of the 1950s, at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, that is also open to the public, Fall 2012.

Since 2010 I have been teaching sections of an intro to film course, Moving Image Arts, at Columbia College Chicago.

American Melodrama, a course at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, that was also open to the public, Fall 2000.

A reading course in art issues taught in the Photography Department of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Spring 1997.
