This will be an exhibit of my work from the present and from earlier years, curated by Troy Sherman. The opening is February 10, at 6 PM, and the gallery is open by appointment afterwards, possibly for about two monnths. Some decisions about what to include have already been made. The show will include two of my recent films, made and completed on video, displayed on video monitor, Interactions 5: Netherlands Skies, and Interactions 10: Paolo Uccello's Hunt. The Interactions project consists of both films and prints of stills from the films, and also on view, near the monitor, will be Interactions 10: Paolo Uccello's Hunt, Grids 3. My idea here is that comparing the images in the film from still images extracted from it will put the viewer in a kind of "meta" space between cinema and stills. Among the earlier works to be included are Permutations 4: The Tower, All Views 13, the thirteen sheet sequence, Explorations 1: Minturnae, and pieces from a project with multiple works on multiple subjects, Figments, all these focusing on one subject, an old castle. Most of the works hung will be from the Clouds in that group. I also have an artist's statement written for this show.
In addition, just hours before the opening, at 2 PM on February 10, I will attend and speak at a screening of my five early films followed by a film print of the recent Interactions 5: Netherlands Skies at Arkadin Cinema and Bar.
