On February 3, 2024, I added a link to an excellent but hard to find poem, Philarete Praises Poetry, by George Wither (c. 1620). I have found much in this poem that corresponds to my own thoughts as an artist, and have quoted six lined from it in my statements.

On March 9, 2023, I added links to two reviews of my new book on Stan Brakhage to the page on the book, which already has some purchase information too.

On December 30, 2022, I added links to the publication of my book, Seeking Brakhage, and some upcoming related screenings in New York, to my main page.

On November 14, 2022, I added a link to a video of a Zoom call discussing my forthcoming book on Stan Brakhage.

Sorry, by early 2022, I had not updated my site in over a year. During that time, three new articles of mine have been published online. They are linked to from the top of my Writing About Film page, but here are the links as well: The Myth of the Avant-Garde Film, written a few years before its 2021 publication in the Brazilian journol Foco, about connections I find between avant-garde films and classical Hollywood cinema.

On April 10, 2021, I posted a link about a show that includes seven of my recent art works.

On January 25, 2020, I added a poem, Sonnet Advocating for Removal. Please note that I do not consider this to be particularly good poetry, nor do I consider myself to be a serious poet.

On August 15, 2019, I sent, and posted here as well as to Facebook, an urgent letter to two of the leading Democratic presidential candidates, urging them to join together.

On August 25, I added a document titled Film Terms, a basic guide for film students and others who choose to write about film.

On April 28, 2018, I added two artist statements, Statement 8, a brief intro to my work written last year, and the new Statement 9, my most comprehensive attempt to articulate my ideology and general intent in relation to much of my work.

On April 4, 2018, I added a new artist statement on Quarries

On March 27, 2018, I added a link to a page about the three-person show I am in at the Evanston Art Center.

On January 8, 2018. I added 71 more Unthreadings. from 133 to 203, and also an index page to the first 200 by title.

On July 31, 2017, I added a short article of some topical, and I hope also nearly-timeless, interest, Trump, Bach, and Me.

Also on July 31, I added links to two new types of art works. The first is Unthreadings, of which there are now over 800 individual pieces, and growing; I've linked so far only to the first 528. The second is Recuts, a part of Quarries, of which there are so far "only" 50, based on five different images.

Until July 31, 2017, I had not updated my site for four years, so I have also archived updates from the past decade below.

On April 19, 2013, I posted a page on a group show I am exhibiting in, April 19 through May 10, 2013.

On July 28, 2012, I posted the screening list for my upcoming course, American Cinema of the 1950s.

On December 21, 2011, I posted a new group of 25 Partials, and the related Enlargements work.

On November 19, I posted a a capsule review of films by Gregory J. Markopoulos.

On October 2, 2011, I posted a great deal of new art work. There is a whole new project, Kingdoms; a whole new Colors group, Colors 3: Circles and Squares; many new Quarries works including works based on the first images in three new groups, Quarry 11: Torrance, Quarry 12: Refinery, Torrance, and Quarry 13: Ancient Los Angeles. These new groups include three new 12G works, starting with Quarry 11: Torrance 1, 12G, 1. There are also three new Remades (each of which is a diptych, so click on the image to see the larger panel), Quarry 1: Times Square 2, Remade 10.1, Quarry 10: Hollywood 11, Remade 12.1, and Quarry 11: Torrance 1, Remade 10.1. There are three new Enlargements works as well, Quarry 2: Illinois Forest 1, Enlargements 10.1, Quarry 10: Hollywood 11, Enlargements 7.1, and Quarry 4: American Shoe 5, Enlargements 6.1. There are 36 new Partials related to that last Enlargements. There's also a a new X-Rays. Finally, there are two new Likenesses groups, 14 works in all. Finally, I have a new artist's statement, Statement 7, though if you have not read my other statements I would recommend reading Statement 5 and Statement 6 first

On September 30, 2011, I posted a link to a new article of mine on Stan Brakhage, and announcements of an upcoming lecture-screening at Yale and my building's upcoing open studio weekend on my main page.

On August 8, 2011, I posted a a link to my review of Monte Hellman's new film, Road to Nowhere. (An update on my art is coming very soon.)

On March 22, 2011, I posted a new grcoup of 64 Partials and a related new Enlargements

On February 15, 2011, I posted a new type of Quarry work, the "Partials". I have made these for only one Quarry image so far, but more are planned. In addition, there is one new X- Ray, Quarry 5: Valley 2, X-Ray 13.1, and a new statement on a specific work.

On January 18, 2011, I posted eight new 12G works that are part of Quarries, along with the beginnings of one new Quarry group, Quarry 10: Hollywood. The eight new 12G works are Quarry 1: Times Square 2, 12G, 1, Quarry 1: Times Square 3, 12G, 1, Quarry 2: Illinois Forest 1, 12G, 1, Quarry 2: Illinois Forest 3, 12G, 1, Quarry 4: American Shoe 1, 12G, 1, Quarry 4: American Shoe 7, 12G, 1, Quarry 5: Valley 2, 12G, 1, and Quarry 10: Hollywood 11, 12G, 1. In addition, I added the first two of a new type of Quarry work, the "Enlargements": Quarry 1: Times Square 1, Enlargements 9.1 and Quarry 4: American Shoe 5, Enlargements 6.1.

On October 12, 2010, I added six additional "Quarries, X-Rays" and the start of a whole new group of works, based on portrait images, "Likenesses".

On August 31, 2010, I added a new artist's statement.

On August 29, 2010, I added a new type of "Quarry" work, of which I expect to do many more based on other images, Quarry 1: Times Square 4, X-Ray 9.1 (originally titled Quarry 1: Times Square 4, Rendering 9.1), a new group of "Quarry," works based on a single image, Quarry 9: Venice, California, and a number of more "artificial" "Figmented-G" works: Quarry 2: Illinois Forest 4, Figmented-G 8.1, Quarry 4: American Shoe 1, Figmented-G 11.1, Quarry 4: American Shoe 5, Figmented-G 12.1, Quarry 6: Venice Beach 14, Figmented-G 13.1, and Quarry 9: Venice, California 1, Figmented-G 9.1.

On August 13, 2010, I added a new work, related to the "highly artifical" works referred to just below, Quarry 1: Times Square 4, Figmented-G 12.1.

On July 27, 2010, and in some cases a few days earlier, I added a number of new works, including works from the first image of a new group of "Quarry" images, Quarry 8: Construction, a group of small "Quarry" sheets from Quarry 7: Marina del Rey, and a number of diptychs that use grids that rearrange parts of an image into highly artificial patterns: Quarry 2: Illinois Forest 1, Figmented-G 10.1; Quarry 1: Times Square 1, Figmented-G 13.1; Quarry 6: Venice Beach 14, Figmented-G 11.1; Quarry 5: Valley 4, Figmented-G 10.1, and Quarry 3: Power Lines 4, Figmented-G 11.1. More related works are in progress.

On July 1, 2010, I posted the first works from three new groups of "Quarry" images, Quarry 4: American Shoe, Quarry 5: Valley, Quarry 6: Venice Beach, and Quarry 7: Marina del Rey.

On May 19, 2010, I posted the first works from a new "Quarries" image, including one "12 G" work, one Quarry, Figmented work, a set of 36 Grids, and two "Quarries, Figmented" from different images.

On April 13, 2010, I added five new "Quarries, Figmented" works, from what will become two new "Quarries" groups.

On February 21, 2010, I added a new group of art works, the first of the "Quarries, Figmented".

On February 14, 2010, I added an article on the films of Jacques Tati in a version somewhat different from the one published in the Chicago Reader on February 11, 2010.

On January 26, 2010, I added a new type of "Quarries" work, the "Quarries" sheets, to Quarry 1: Times Square, and a new group of "Grids", made from a third image, to Quarry 2: Illinois Forest

On December 13, 2009, I added many more "Twos" works of Quarries 1: Times Square.

On November 30, 2009, I added a whole new group of works, "Quarries" and a new artist's statement.

On October 30, 2009, I added several new "Duos" and the first three "Trios" to Venues 1: Terian Center.

On September 13, 2009, I added the initial works in Venues 1: Terian Center, an essay on my work written for my one-person show at Pratt by Brian Robert Hischer, a statement on Venues 1: Terian Center, a statement on "Figments", and links to all the works in this show.

On Septemnber 1, 2009, I added additional "Clouds" to Figments 1: Fondi 1 and Figments 1: Fondi 2.

On August 15, 2009, I added a link to a group show that includes Details 1: Largo Argentina, Rome.

On July 14, 2009, I added the initial works in three new "Figments" groups, Figments 1: Fondi 1, Figments 1: Fondi 2, and Figments 6: La Bruschetta.

On June 14, 2009, I added my most current artist's statement.

On June 13, 2009, I posted works from a new "Figments" group, Figments 12: Catedral 4, as well as 24 additional "Clouds" for each of the other five existing "Figments" groups.

On June 11, 2009, I added a link to my review of the 21st Onion City Experimental Film and Video Festival. This includes some general comments on the field, updating my article, The End of Avant-Garde Film in Millennium Film Journal, Nos. Nos.16/17/18, 1987.
